Direct answers on independence, scope, and expectations.
Independence & Incentives
Do you receive commissions, door fees, or revenue share from
internet providers?
No. Community Internet Advisory does not accept commissions, door
fees, revenue share, referral fees, or any form of compensation from
internet service providers, broadband vendors, or telecommunications
companies involved in association technology decisions. Unrelated
software or service providers that do not influence board
decision-making (such as website platforms or business tools) may be
used or compensated in the normal course of business operations.
Are you affiliated with any internet providers or technology
vendors?
No. Community Internet Advisory is not affiliated with, owned by, or
otherwise connected to any internet service provider, fiber-optic
company, broadband vendor, or telecommunications provider whose
services may be evaluated by associations. The firm may use or
partner with unrelated software or service providers that do not
influence or benefit from board broadband or infrastructure
decisions.
Who pays you, and how?
Only the association (or purchaser of the guide). All services are
provided on a flat-fee basis, agreed to in advance. We do not accept
contingent fees, success fees, or backend compensation tied to
provider selection or contract execution.
Do you have preferred providers?
No. We do not recommend, endorse, or maintain preferred
relationships with any internet service provider or technology
vendor. Advisory support is evaluative and educational only.
Scope & Boundaries
Do you recommend specific internet providers or technologies?
No. Advisory services are evaluative and educational. We do not
recommend providers, technologies, or specific outcomes.
Do you negotiate contracts on behalf of associations?
No. We do not negotiate, execute, or represent associations in
contractual matters. Boards retain full decision-making authority.
Do you provide legal, engineering, or financial advice?
No. Advisory services are educational and governance-focused. Legal
questions should be directed to association counsel. Engineering or
technical assessments should be performed by licensed professionals.
Do you interpret or review contracts for legal compliance?
No. We help boards identify governance considerations and
risk-related questions they may wish to bring to legal counsel.
Contract interpretation and legal review remain the responsibility
of association attorneys.
What happens if a board decides not to move forward after
receiving advisory support?
That is an acceptable and expected outcome. Advisory services exist
to support informed decision-making, not to drive transactions. If
clarity leads a board to pause, decline, or reconsider a proposal,
the engagement fulfilled its purpose.
For Community Association Managers (CAMs)
Does sharing the guide with a board imply CAM endorsement of
advisory services?
No. The guide is an educational resource. Sharing it does not
constitute endorsement, facilitation, or recommendation of advisory
services. CAMs may provide the guide as a reference without any
implied obligation or affiliation.
Are CAMs expected to facilitate, interpret, or support advisory
engagements?
No. Advisory services are board-directed. Community Association
Managers are not expected to facilitate, interpret, manage, or
endorse advisory engagements.
CAMs may participate in advisory discussions at the board's request,
consistent with their normal support role, but are not responsible
for the advisory scope, analysis, or outcomes.
Any advisory engagement occurs directly between the board and
Community Internet Advisory.
Can licensed CAMs request courtesy access to the guide?
Yes. Florida Licensed Community Association Managers (LCAMs) may
request complimentary access to the guide for professional
reference. Requests can be submitted through the
CAM Resources
page.
Does Community Internet Advisory pay referral fees or commissions
to CAMs?
No. We do not pay referral fees, commissions, or any form of
compensation to CAMs, management companies, or third parties. This
policy protects the independence of both CAMs and advisory services.
